Spinal Decompression Therapy

We use many non-surgical chiropractic methods to treat car accident injuries, sport injures and work injuries that result in back pain and other types of chronic pain. We treat patients from many places in the surrounding area including East Orange, Ironbound and Irvington.

Decompression Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy is an advanced technique that is used primarily to treat back pain and disc injuries in the neck and lower back. Decompression therapy has also been shown to markedly improve shoulder pain and leg pain. This therapy uses a computer operated decompression table that applies distraction (stretching) to the spinal structures gradually in timed and calculated sequences. The distraction is alternated with cycles of partial relaxation. The Decompression Therapy administered by our chiropractor is completely safe and all of the equipment carries FDA approval.

Chiropractic Decompression Therapy Helps Back Pain

Several scientific studies have shown this technique to be very effective in treating herniated discs and other back pain problems. The alternating cycles of distraction and relaxation gently separate the vertebrae and create a vacuum inside the targeted discs known as negative intra-discal pressure. The negative pressure encourages the bulging disc to return to its proper position. At the same time the therapy promotes the diffusion of water and nutrient-rich fluids in around the disc and this causes the disc fibers to regenerate and heal more quickly.

Decompression therapy is applied over a series of treatments. Over time decompression treatments can make a substantial improvement in a herniated disc and provide significant relief from back pain. Often herniated discs cause shooting extremity pain that is caused by pinched or aggravated nerves in back. Decompression therapy is effective in curing these types of associative leg and arm pain.

Decompression therapy is increasingly being applied to other areas of the body and there are numerous case studies where it has produced significant relief from shoulder pain. Some patients have even been able to avoid shoulder surgery entirely by using spinal decompression therapy.

When a patient comes into one of our clinics for decompression therapy they lie comfortably on the decompression table and a set of cushioned padded straps are snuggly fitted around sections of the body. For neck treatments, a special pair of soft rubber pads is fitted behind the neck. The computer is then calibrated to facilitate the therapy treatment. Our chiropractor will monitor the process and record your improvement using chiropractic and medical diagnostic tools. Many patients find the therapy enjoyable and over time most patients see significant improvement.

Decompression therapy combined with other chiropractic treatments like physical therapy leads to even better results. If you live in Clifton, Newark, East Orange, Ironbound or Irvington and are suffering from herniated discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, facet syndromes, radiating arm pain or leg pain, we invite you to come in and talk to our chiropractor about the benefits of Spinal Decompression Therapy. Most insurance companies now cover the cost of treatment and this is without a doubt one of the most effective non-surgical treatments available.
